A Sunday Drive...

A Sunday Drive taken in October 2013, led me into a 'scathingly-brilliant' idea.  I found myself in Canon City, Colorado I couldn't drive thru without a quick drive down a very familiar road to 615 Pike Ave, my former High School, St. Scholastica Academy.  I was a border-student from 1970-72.  Have been back for a couple of reunions, but nothing prepared me for what I was about to see.  My first glimpse of the property could only be described as Abandoned and Forgotten. My eye landed on a huge red FOR SALE sign. A very special place of real estate in my heart was up for SALE!  After driving several circles around the property, my mind's snapshot of what the property used to be came into focus.  The Academy and it's beautiful footprint needing a new pair of shoes.  A plan was starting to develop...how could this Abandoned and Forgotten property be changed to Vibrant and Purposeful again?
The quick answer:  This property lends itself very well to a variety of uses - I believe it will have to encompass For-Profit as well as Non-Profit entities to keep it vibrant, current and relevant well in to the future.
The conversation has been started and we are presently forming a 'Board of Thinkers', join us...

  1. Is this project still in the works? Have you made any progress? I am very interested in helping this project along. Please find me on Facebook and send a message or email me at afreeman66@liberty.edu....I work at the Abbey currently and would like to talk to someone about some of the things I have learned (someone who experienced these things). I also have wonderful ideas for the community center idea and have been poromoting it already. Willing to help put the word out better.
